Did you know?
Did you know, cats can see in colour, but they have the human equivalent of red/green colour blindness. Even though they have excellent night vision; seeing six times better than us in low light, they may not perceive brilliant detail when looking at objects.

Courses for Animal Attendant Care and Animal Welfare Work

There are many different jobs that an animal attendant can consider. These include working in an animal shelter, kennels, cattery or pet shop.

Duties include feeding of animals and being aware of diet requirements, dispensing of medication, cleaning and disinfecting of pens and cages, exercising confined animals and  monitoring and contributing to, the health and wellbeing of the animals.

Some animal attendant roles do not require any formal education although having some type of a study component and experience in this area will increase your chances of employment. There are many courses available; short courses, part time and full time courses, to give you a head start and initiatives like volunteering at animal organisations will provide experience and knowledge.
